Start Nursing Services
Is Proud To Offer Level 2 Support Coordination Under The NDIS

Our experienced coordinators work closely with participants to navigate the complexities of their NDIS plans, connect with the right services and build the confidence to manage supports independently.

NDIS Practice Standards Updates

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission has strengthened its Practice Standards, placing Support Coordinators at the forefront of these reforms.

Since late 2024, it has been mandatory for all support coordinators to register with the commission—ensuring consistent service delivery and a higher level of accountability.

Coordinators are now subject to the same rigorous standards as other NDIS providers, with an emphasis on participant rights, safety, and person-centered support.

In 2025, the Commission introduced enhanced requirements around qualifications and compulsory ongoing training, particularly for those working with participants who have complex needs, such as psychosocial disabilities.

The Evolving Role Of Support Coordinators

What's Changing in 2025

Support Coordination has always been a vital link between NDIS participants and the services they need.

But with the latest regulatory reforms introduced by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission and the NDIA, the landscape is shifting—toward greater accountability, participant empowerment, and outcome-driven service delivery.

Support coordinators will help participants make the most of their plan by:

  • Helping builds a participant’s capacity and capability to understand their plan, navigate the NDIS and make their own decisions.
  • Brokering supports and services in line with participant wishes and their plan budget. • Monitoring plan budgets, value for money and the effectiveness of the supports.
  • Providing regular progress reports, letting the NDIA know if the participant’s plan is meeting their needs or it needs to be changed

Key Regulatory Changes

Mandatory Registration

As of late 2024, all Support Coordinators must be registered with the NDIS Commission. This ensures consistent quality and adherence to the updated NDIS Practice Standards.

New Compliance Requirements

  • Detailed progress notes and outcome reporting are now mandatory.
  • Coordinators must declare and manage conflicts of interest
  • Audit readiness is essential, with increased scrutiny on documentation and service agreements.

Updated Digital Systems

  • Coordinators must use the my NDIS provider portal to accept service requests, submit reports, and manage participant relationships.
  • Unregistered coordinators must create an on-system account to continue receiving referrals.

Shift in Service Philosophy

Capacity Building Focus

The NDIS is emphasizing participant independence. Support Coordinators are expected to teach skills like budgeting, service navigation, and decision-making.

Outcome Driven Support

  • Every action must align with a participant’s NDIS goals.
  • Coordinators must provide evidence of progress, not just activity.

Collaboration Mandate

Coordinators are now expected to work closely with mainstream services, including health, education, and community networks.

Pricing & Funding Adjustments

  • Shorter Funding Periods: Support Coordination funding is now released in quarterly tranches, requiring more frequent plan reviews.
  • Line-Item Changes: Level 2 and 3 coordination rates are under tighter caps, while Level 1 may see slight increases to encourage early intervention

What this means for participants

  • Fewer but Better Coordinators: Higher entry barriers may reduce the number of providers but raise the quality of service.
  • More Empowerment: Participants are encouraged to take the reins of their NDIS journey, with coordinators acting as guides rather than managers.
  • Greater Transparency: Participants can expect clearer communication, better documentation, and more structured support.
